24 Hour Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring

24 Hr Blood Pressure Monitoring

An Ambulatory monitor is a small device roughly the size of a mobile phone which is usually clipped securely on the waist belt of the person carrying. The monitor is wired to a blood pressure monitoring cuff strapped to the person’s upper arm.

The ABPM works by switching on and off and taking regular blood pressure readings. The readings are normally taken over a period of  24 hours and the data helps the doctor to find out what your blood pressure was during measured intervals. The intervals may be between 15 and 30 minutes. This method of detection helps the doctor in determine the right course of action.
