What causes High Blood Pressure?
There are a number of causes for high blood pressure and it is not always necessary to worry if occasional readings reflect seriously high levels of blood pressure.
If you are fit and healthy then there could be a sudden stress induced blood pressure increase. However, persistently higher blood pressure, accompanied by being overweight or lacking physical fitness are much more serious reasons that would cause higher blood pressure.
There are also certain foods and beverages that will have an immediate effect on your blood pressure. For example, consuming sweetened drinks like tea, coffee or fizzy soft drinks are common inducer. Frequent cups of tea or coffee raise blood pressure.
What else is bad for my blood pressure?
Studies have proven the fact that regular consumption of sugar is bad for blood pressure. If you enjoy tea then switch to unsweetened green tea or Chinese tea which are normally considered healthy and ideal for lowering high bloodpressure.
Another cause is calcification of coronary arteries with age. Accumulation of calcium narrows the arteries and the heart needs to work hard to pump blood around your body. This can lead to higher blood pressure.
